Our “Czech Working Line Puppy Boot Camp” has two phases that cover four weeks each of training per phase.

Each phase of our Puppy Boot Camp costs $1500 for 30 days of training or $2500 for 60 days. Training starts at 6 weeks of age.

Both phases of our “Puppy Boot Camp” cover introductory obedience themes. These include but are not limited to:

• crate training
• potty training
• leash training
• sit
• stay
• lay down
• drop chew toy

Phase one introduces these concepts and goes from 6-10 weeks of age. Phase two further drills down on cementing in these obedience skills and extends from weeks 10-14.  It’s an intensive training where we puppies are in our home, sitting under our kitchen table and learning to be part of a family as if we were going to keep that puppy long term ourselves. For GSD owners in bigger cities, like St Louis, Springfield or Joplin MO, getting some training before bringing your puppy home can sometimes be helpful. If you feel you might want to add 30 or 60 days of our puppy boot camp,  we’d be happy to cover over some of these details with you.

Our “Czech Working Line Puppy Boot Camp” is our most common training option. But some of you know you plan on pursuing some kind of protection training. And you are wanting help getting that right foundation laid right from day one.

• You want help teaching your puppy to eat our of the handler’s hand.

Here at Czech Working Line we do offer personalized training on a puppy by puppy and owner by owner basis. DM testing typically categorizes dogs into three groups based on their genetic results:

1. Clear (N/N): The dog has two normal copies of the SOD1 gene and is not at risk of developing DM or passing the mutation to offspring.
2. Carrier (N/DM): The dog has one normal gene and one mutated gene. They won’t develop DM but can pass the mutated gene to their offspring.
3. At Risk (DM/DM): The dog has two copies of the mutated gene and is at risk of developing DM later in life.

Up to Date (UTD) vaccinations mean your puppy will have received a minimum of these vaccinations by 8/9 weeks of age— more if your puppy is older.

In addition to being up to date on vaccinations, your puppy will have been preventatively treated for parasites before leaving our home. 

We will give you a digital copy of vaccination and parasite prevention work to give your vet 

*** A brief note of observation: that your puppy is up to date on vaccinations will not mean your puppy will be done with vaccinations. This simply means your puppy has received appropriate vaccinations for the age of your puppy at the time you take the puppy home. In most all cases you will need to continue with additional vaccines under the guidance of your local vet. Up to date vaccinations does not mean the puppy is DONE with all vaccinations and won’t need any more.

We feed Diamond Hi Energy (in purple bag). We feed this until the puppies are 12-14 weeks of age.

At this time, our protocol here at our home is to switch to Diamond Naturals (large breed) lamb and rice. 

We find the Diamond Naturals Lamb and Rice a fairly good quality food at a reasonable price. Ingredients are excellent and our dogs seem to thrive on this kibble.

With that said, many customers are already feeding one or more current dogs something different. By no means would you need to keep one of our puppies on the kibble we use just because that is what we use. Feel free to transition your new puppy over the course of a few days. 

We don’t free feed our puppies. By this we mean we don’t leave food out all the time. 

Free access to food at all times can make it difficult to potty training puppies. They graze all day long. And with constant access to food, they turn into little pooping machines.

We find it works better to feed puppies twice a day until about 6-9 months of age, after which we switch to once a day.

We typically feed our growing puppies as much as they will eat. We find our dogs rarely get over weight, especially while they are growing. 

We feed as much as they need, then after they are done eating, we take away their food. This helps a lot when it comes to potty training. 

*** A word of caution: occasionally we hear from customers who rigidly feed their dogs according to the label on their kibble bag. Sometimes this can result in drastically underfeeding puppies. For our bloodlines (we can’t speak to other dogs from other bloodlines), we find 90% do not over eat. So we feed as much as they will eat. We moderate their food only if we see they get to a point where they are in fact putting on 5-6 too many lbs. At that point we know exactly how much they are eating every day and its easy to cut back 1/2 cup or so at a time once every few weeks to find that point of equilibrium.
