Are you looking for a German Shepherd puppy that will be highly trainable. Here at Czech Working Line, our goal is to produce healthy dogs, that live a long time and are super easy to train. Puppies that have genetic disposition for protection work, but have a good off switch. Our emphasis on highly trainable dogs is a key reason why we limit our foundation dogs to those dogs that come from Schutzhund, IGP titled lines. Dogs that earn an IGP are a completely different kind of dog than an AKC show dog. Show dogs champions are picked by putting the dogs in a ring, trotting them in a circle and a judge picks the dog he/she believes most accurately reflects the breed standard. The problem with the system is German Shepherd’s are working dogs, not lap dogs. GSDs were developed as a working, protection breed that would serve as effective protectors and guard dogs. And so the IGP title comes to the rescue. In the IGP title process dogs are actually put through exams, objective exams where the dogs prove themselves by passing objective standards. A dog’s temperament is tested along with its ability to accomplish obedience, tracking and protection skill tests. Dogs are not tested on a bell curve, the test is objective. Many dogs simply don’t have the capacity to do pass the exam. It is very rigorous. Our breeding program only uses dogs where most all the dogs in a 5-6 generation pedigree have been titled. In so doing, this gives us a genetic foundation setting our litters up for success. Dogs that are not highly trainable are simply eliminated from breeding. Following such a breeding path allows our dogs to thrive in homes and more serious protection training. Many of our puppies are capable of thriving in very high level training.
